Egypt, Libya have Bush to thank: Freedom doctrine led to uprisings in the Arab world

  1. Wow, Charles this doesn't seem to be a popular position that you've postulated, but I believe that you are right. President Bush did start something in Iraq and I believe he knew that other nations in the region would eventually recognize a universal truth. That the human spirit does yearn for freedom and expression, both of which are sadly missing in this part of our world. The idea planted in the minds of many oppressed in the Middle East and I suspect around the globe has begun to manifest in these societies as they claim their birthright. Autonomy, personal responsibility for ones life and the pursuit of happiness in a peaceful and just society, what an idea. Bush had a lot to do with that but he will never get credit for it because most Liberals want to claim this narrative for President Obama. Remember he was the anointed one who would save the world from itself and in so doing from Conservative influence as well. The Iraq war has cost a lot in term of lost lives and vast American resources, but I believe that the price for peace and freedom always exact those terms.
